As the holiday season approaches, we are reminded that community is not defined by geography alone, it’s defined by compassion, shared responsibility, and the belief that every family deserves a safe and stable place to call home.
And even in these challenging times, this has been a milestone year for BCDC.
A Milestone Year for Brookline CDC
A survivor of domestic violence was helped by your donations to fulfill her dream of homeownership with the first $10,000 down payment assistance from our new fund.
This year, with your support we continue to:
- Advance significant green renovations of our two properties at 154-156 Boylston Street and 1017 Beacon Street
- Expand our emergency rental assistance program and help families realize the dream of homeownership. This year alone, we have helped dozens of Brookline families avoid eviction and keep food on the table.
- We continue to support seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities in maintaining safe, accessible housing, and advocate for their rights at the local level.
A Season of Need and Hope
Across Brookline and neighboring communities, more families than ever are struggling to stay housed. Rising rents, inflation, and federal funding cutbacks have placed struggling on the edge. Our waiting lists enormous strain on households that were already living on the edge. Our waiting lists have grown. Calls for emergency assistance come daily. And the gap between what families earn and what it costs to live here continues to widen.
This Season, Your Gift Goes Further
When you donate to Brookline CDC, you don’t just give, you invest in our community. Through the Massachusetts Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) program, contributions of $1,000 or more qualify for a 50% state tax credit.
That means a $1,000 gift costs you only $500 after the credit, and your generosity directly strengthens affordable housing, financial empowerment, and neighborhood development right here in Brookline.
