The Brookline Community Development Corporation (BCDC) is committed to building a thriving and diverse community. BCDC works closely with residents, other local organizations, the Town of Brookline, and state and federal partners to secure resources to aid in the development and preservation of affordable housing and increasing economic opportunity for Brookline residents. This work supports economic development opportunities for businesses and individuals, and builds a thriving and more level playing field for all residents regardless of age, race, religion, color, sexual orientation, ability or income.
The Brookline Community Development Corporation works to create successful partnerships and programs to improve access to decent, safe affordable housing for Brookline’s residents. We are also seeking to increase economic opportunity and increase wealth-building opportunities for low and moderate income Brookline residents especially those from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
We are fully committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion for all people regardless of age, race, religion, color, sexual orientation, ability or income. Equity means creating conditions that enable everyone to reach their full potential. We strive to make equity part of BCDC’s everyday operations.
To advance equity, the Brookline CDC works to organize and engage under-represented individuals and communities. Renters, low and moderate-income people and people of color are not always at the tables where decisions are made in our community. Brookline CDC strives to change that while understanding how structural oppression impacts individuals, institutions, and systems.
Excellence and learning
BCDC recognizes that its best work is that which it does in service to others. We continuously push ourselves to work hard, grow, improve, and to produce high-quality work. We seek to learn from the work of other social change organizations and integrate new approaches into our work.
BCDC believes that all people have experiences and perspectives that are valuable. We create spaces and dialogues where everyone belongs and can participate and contribute.
BCDC works to dismantle racial oppression and economic inequity at the interpersonal, organizational, and systemic levels.
BCDC enhances its impact by working together with others. We create partnerships, solicit and respond to input, and share knowledge with others.
BCDC strives to be honest, accountable, and transparent. We seek to stand as a model of ethical and inclusive behavior.
