Tamu is a walking example of urban gardening to increase food security, promote health and encourage stronger community connections. She is also advancing food education and environmental sustainability among economically disadvantaged residents. I am particularly struck by how she has been able to use a small space to produce so much food and the sheer beauty of her garden.
Her work really brings home how individual residents can promote public health and the environment regardless of their income.
